Another Artist of Life
When I was 16 years old I went to Washington D.C, to attend an Academy of Achievement "Golden Plate Award Dinner" event held for accomplished teenagers. The organizers kept a large banquet hall open the first evening for the participants to meet each other as we arrived from various parts of the country. That night I met a young woman named Janet (Alice) Honke. She had already graduated from High School and was living in Washington State. I did not want to say goodnight to her after we parted. That night I had my first out-of-body experience. I simply floated out of my bed and visited her in another part of the hotel we were staying in. I woke her up, and we communicated with each other on the Astral plane. While in that state we arranged to meet each other the next morning with a way to verify what had happened between us. That did happen the next morning and we were inseparable after that.
Janet wrote me a poem called "Another Artist of Life", which is the first verse of this song. I wrote her a response, which is the second verse. I composed the piece in the few days we were together and had the chance to play it for her on the piano. We attempted to stay in touch by letters but we both moved so much we lost touch with each other. Many years later I orchestrated this song, trying to keep true to the orchestral sounds I heard in my mind, but did not have the skill to compose so long ago.

Janet, this song is dedicated to you, and all young people who understand that life is more than what we experience every day... wherever you are.
